Park West
19 February 1994

Weather

Early heavy snow subsided during the middle of the day but returned in the early afternoon. There were heavy winds at high altitudes all day.

Conditions

Snow conditions were perfect.

Overall

On Saturday we went to Park West (since reopened as Wolf Mountain). We had to meet Sue and the girls at the airport later in the day. Our condo was just a couple of miles from Park West and skiing there gave us the opportunity to get checked in and showered before the trip to the airport.

Another tremendous day of skiing, and great value at only $19. Park West is a pretty basic resort. There are no high speed lifts, virtually no snow making and the quality of the grooming is certainly not up to the standard set by Deer Valley. BUT there is a great variety of skiing, and even on a holiday weekend Saturday, virtually no waiting for the lifts.

After several days of snow, the lack of snowmaking is not a problem. The fresh powder made even the steeper mogul runs, like Badlands - seriously steep at the bottom, skiable.

We skied all morning, warmed up at lunch and finally stopped at around 2:30 as the snow started again and the heavy winds at the top of the ridge made life pretty unpleasant.
